These are mostly brief letters relating to books and poets Haffenden hoped to write on for PN Review, including Edward Mendelson's The English Auden and Geoffrey Hill's version of Ibsen's Brand. In /3 he encloses a typescript essay on John Berryman's writing of Homage to Mistress Bradstreet, which he was forced to withdraw from PN Review under an agreement with his American publishers.
