Administrative / Biographical History

Alice Margaret Cooke (1867-1940) studied history at Owens College, graduating with a first in1890. She was subsequently assistant lecturer in history, the first woman appointed to a full-timeacademic post at Owens College. She later worked at the University of Leeds and Newnham College,Cambridge.
