Diary remnants and holiday journals

Scope and Content

The main contents of Philip Larkin’s diaries were shredded shortly after his death in December 1985. The following surviving covers and pieces were evidently retained by his friend and companion, Monica Jones. The covers had been numbered externally by Larkin, but the series was incomplete, numbers 1 to 8 being missing. There was also no number 14, but this may well be as a result of mis-numbering. The last in the series had no number.
