DOCUMENTS ABOUT THE NORTHANTS. ESTATES AFTER THEIR PURCHASE BY FRANCIS

Scope and Content

ANNESLEY (VIII)

Francis Annesley (VIII) had bought up

all his property in Eydon, Sulgrave and

Moreton Pinkney by 1807. He then died

childless in 1811, leaving the estate

to his nephew Rev. Francis Annesley

(IX). Francis (IX) took up residence in

Eydon for the rest of his life, until

his death in 1831. He too had no heirs,

and left the property to his nephew

Charles Annesley. Under the terms of

Francis (VIII)'s will, Charles had to

change his name to Francis to inherit.

Like his uncle and great-uncle, Charles

Annesley Francis Annesley (as he

became known) had no heirs when he died

in 1863, just before his brother Arthur

(XI), and the property went to his great

nephew Arthur (XIII), who had already

inherited the other Annesley estates.

See 23D below for documents concerning

the properties under the ownership of

Arthur (XIII).

See too SL18 (the Aplin and Hunt

papers), which include some deeds

concerning property sold to Charles

Annesley Francis Annesley in the 1830s

and 1840s.
