Scope and Content

Papers including notes of a meeting between the Principal and postgraduates students in May 1977 at which proposals were discussed against a background of cuts in UGC funding. Students expressed particular concern about the decline in sessional appointments. The file contains letters from the UMIST Union on behalf of the Postgraduate and Demonstrator Society emphasising concerns about a decline in the quality of teaching as a result of a reduction in funding and changes in priorities.
