Papers of Rev Gilbert White (1720-93)

Papers of Rev Gilbert White comprise three series: letters received by him from members of his family (EGR5/1/1), financial papers (EGR5/1/2) and other papers (EGR5/1/3). Autograph letters from Gilbert White to members of his family are to be found among the papers of other members of the White family (EGR5/2/1).

During his lifetime the 10th Earl of Stamford presented to the John Rylands Library two volumes containing 233 autograph letters from John Mulso to Gilbert White, 1744-1790, (English MS 911). The letters were published in John Mulso, The letters to Gilbert White of Selborne from his intimate friend and contemporary the Rev. John Mulso, ed. Rashleigh Holt-White (London: R.H. Porter, 1906).
