Registers

Scope and Content

Nominal registers generally containthe register number, prisoner's name, place and date of convicton, the offence and sentence, level of education, age, height and colour of hair, trade or occupation, religion and place of birth, number of previous convictions and reference to the last previous entry for that prisoner in the register, date of discharge and occassionally remarks.

Most registers cover a 2-3 month period and a new series of register numbers was usually started every 2 years on 1 January
