EXAMINATION: John Francis, special constable of Glan Rhos, in the parish of Llanidan, at the hearing of Owen Williams [late of Hen Felin in the parish of Llanidan] labourer for taking and carrying away the bushel of wheat and a half bushel of barley the property of Richard Hughes of Carn. Who saith that Richard Hughes of Carn delivered a warrant under the hand of Sir Richard William Bulkeley Hughes to search the dwellinghouse of Owen Williams at Hen Felin for a considerable quantity of wheat and barley suspected to be concealed there.

He and John Jones another special constable searched the house and found no corn but 2 kibbins of flour.

Owen Williams said he had got the barley a long time ago and the wheat from Llangefni preparatory to the lying in of his wife.

He said the barley was part of what he got from thrashing at Glan rafon Llanedwen maybe one or two years previous and part of what was ground that morning came from his mother a poor woman.
