Typescript photocopy of an account by Beaton of his new approach to oil painting, which he describes as a departure from his photographic and theatrical design work. Beaton reflects that his work as a photographer may have in fact emerged from a "deep-seated desire to paint which has always been there but which could not be fulfilled until now". Beaton's first exhibition of oil paintings was unveiled on the 26th January, 1966.
