Thanks Beaton for his sweet letter. In some way the sympathy and affection of friends does help in this "agonising sorrow". It seems cruel that "Bobbety" should have been stricken by this illness, which has no cure. Remembers when Beaton telephoned in the early days of the war. Is "overwhelmed by this bitter grief".
