Very short and scrappy, just one entry a day. Several journeys to see his aged father at Rhiwlas. Dining visits to friends in Wiltshire, visits to Oxford and London, translating Columella, &c. seem to be his main pre-occupations. It is a picture of the leisured life of a learned old bachelor.
