Letter from Henry Travis to Robert Owen

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter opening with Travis expressing his sorrow at not seeing Owen the previous Tuesday and providing Owen with an update of the content of the latest editions of Robert Owen's Journals.

The affairs of the [Co-operative] League are discussed with Travis writing of seeing little of Mr [William] Coningham and of receiving a paper from Mr Nash which gave an "interesting sketch" on the subject of the Labour Exchange, and particularly the Gray's Inn Road proceedings.

Travis tells Owen he met Louis Blanc recently, he sends his kindest regards and apologises for not making Owen's birthday celebrations: Mazzini on the other hand never replies to invitations.
