Letter

Scope and Content

Alexander Werth to W. P. Crozier.

Location: Paris.

His coverage of the Paris riots was restricted due to 'that want of organisation at night' to which he referred in a previous letter. He covered the riot as best he could. He telephoned 'snapshots' through to his wife who took them down in long hand and phoned them to Mrs. Avis. He describes the Reuter account of the riot or the 'Communist menace' as they called it was 'highly colourful'. His account of Friday's rioting may have missed out a few important episodes, but was 'more truthful'. He was surprised that it was left out. He asks for feedback. He doesn't like the look for the new government, particularly not its 'moth-eaten Foreign Minister'.
