Administrative / Biographical History

Morton was admitted to St John's College in 1889 following schooling at Belfast Royal Academy and Queen's College, Belfast. He graduated BA in 1892, as 8th Wrangler in the Mathematical Tripos. Morton then returned to Queen's College, Belfast, where he served as Assistant in Natural Philosophy (1892-7) and then Professor (1897-1933). He published various papers in 'Philosophical Magazine', 'Proceedings of the Physical Society', and 'Proceedings of the Royal Irish Academy'.
