William Thomas.

Charged with employing Elias Thomas (who resides with him) aged 10 or upwards. The child had not obtained the required certificate either showing his proficiency in reading, writing and elementary arithmetic from a School or of previous attendance at a School. This was contrary to the Elementary Education Acts, 1876, Factory Acts and the Bye Law of the School Board.

Verdict: Guilty. Fined 2s. 6d. and also to pay the sum of 8s. 6d. in costs.
