Letter from Robert Owen to James Rigby

Scope and Content

Manuscript letter informing Rigby that his daughter, Mrs Fauntleroy, is in London with her eldest son Edward and wishes to see Rigby on Friday before returning to the United States.

Owen goes on to inform Rigby that Mrs Buckley has died. Owen says that he asked her friend Alexandra Hughes to arrange her burial at Owen’s expense. Owen goes on to express his alarm at the cost of the funeral and says that: I hope my funeral will not cost half the amount they ignorantly expended.

Owen concludes by passing on the best wishes of Mr and Mrs Twort.
