Collection of traditional tales etc. by unknown author. Many pages have been marked so as to show that these pages have been published or sometimes entered elsewhere. The contents are varied and include: 'Creag Earnaig' with notes in English; notes on souming; 'Leac-na-Gruaige' [Slab of the Hair]; 'Crodh Marra' [Sea-cattle]; Gaelic prose tale 'Cailleach Bhead an Fhasaich' [The old woman of Bead an Fhàsaich] and Gaelic prose tale 'Chliarsheanachain' from Baile-nan-Cailleach (Nuntown in Benbecula), as well as additional notes on plants, sea-weed, etc. and popular sayings, riddles, etc. The notebook is written by Alexander Carmichael and John Ewen MacRury.
