Written from Liverpool. She would like to stay with them and if she has a rest immediately after lunch she will be ready for business about 3pm or 3.30 and then go straight to a meeting. She would like to have a tete a tete with her old friend 'Dora' who 'is worth winning back from her estrangement'.

'our Eva' - JB's only daughter who was tragically killed in 1864

'I shall reach you from Cardiff about midday' - A meeting under the auspices of the LNA for the repeal of the CD Acts was held in the Town Hall at Cardiff on 29 Jan. From there she went on to Bristol and delivered her lecture entitled 'A higher standard of morality' (See note on meetings arranged at Bristol, Swansea, Newport and Cardiff in letter from JB to Miss Priestman 6 Jan [1873]. All were reported in the 'Shield' of 8 Feb 1873, pp 44-6). It was also mentioned in a letter from Mary Priestman to Mrs Wilson, 11 Feb 1873, that 'two weeks ago [i.e. Jan 28] he [Mr Knox] went to Cardiff to prepare Mrs Butler's meeting - it was unfortunately a very strong one but it was well attended and arranged'
