Administrative / Biographical History
William Harry Turton (1856-1938) was born in India and educated at Clifton College and the Royal Military Academy in England. In 1876 he was commissioned as a Royal Engineer Lieutenant. He wrote two books of hymns, and published a book on 'The Marine Shells of Port Alfred' in 1932.

Manuscripts can be consulted on appointment only. The Museum of Zoology is open Monday to Friday 9:00 am to 17:00 pm. Access and reproduction is at the discretion of the Archivist.
