G. K. CHESTERTON PAPERS. VOL. CXXIV B. 'The Looney: a magazine for the madhouse'; [1909]. A magazine complied by Chesterton and his family during the summer of 1909, in the autograph of each compiler. Including the following contributions by Chesterton: 'Rhyme of the idiot uncle to the imbecile child'; 'Immortal idiots', a series of cartoons (published in The Coloured Lands); 'Delusions of the cells', four cartoons; 'Fernley Asylum', three cartoons with text; drawings for the cover (published as the wrapper of The Coloured Lands) and rejected cover. Purchased by Dorothy Collins in 1953 from Peter Oldershaw, whose childhood drawing of Uncle Gilbert is at f. 11, see Add. 73296 B, 73475 A.
