Scope and Content

G. K. CHESTERTON PAPERS. VOL. XCVII (ff. i+122). Scripts of four radio plays based on 'Father Brown' stories or characters; 1945. Typewritten. These plays were broadcast in the United States between 3 June and 20 August 1945, two being adapted by Francis Sherling Oliver from 'The wrong shape' (in The Innocence of Father Brown) and 'The oracle of the dog' (in The Incredulity of Father Brown) and the other two, 'The mystified minds' and 'The prophecy of doom' being, apparently, original works by Oliver. The settings and characters of these plays are moved to America, and the period brought up to date, so that the last play opens with VJ Day celebrations.
