Papers relating to local history projects conducted by Family First Training ServicesLimited, Nottingham, 1987-1989

Scope and Content

The collection contains surveys and plans produced by work experience recruits undertaking localhistory projects established by Family First Training Services Limited and Prospects Training ofNottingham. Principal series included are:

  • Plans of icehouses at Clifton Hall, Annesley Hall and Wollaton Hall, and boathouse at WollatonHall, all in Nottinghamshire. 1987 (MS 526/1);
  • Survey forms, accompanied by illustrations, of dovecotes in Wollaton Park, Tithby, Gedling,Upton, Oxton, Wollaton, Thurgarton, Averham and Kneeton in Nottinghamshire. 1988 (MS 526/2);
  • Survey forms and plan of monumental inscriptions in the churchyard of St Stephen's Church inSneinton, Nottinghamshire. 1989 (MS 526/3).

Administrative / Biographical History

Family First Training Services Limited and Prospects Training were training agencies establishedunder a government initiative to provide skills and work experience for job seekers. During the1980s, the agencies were responsible for undertaking work on a number of local history projects inNottinghamshire.

The collection has been divided by project name into series. Within these series, items have beenarranged chronologically where possible.
