Scope and Content

95 letters from Lewis Jarvis to his mother, Mrs. Lewis Jarvis, containing information about the peacetime duties of the regiment, and news from actions around Wepener (1900) and hot pursuit operations along the Cape Colony frontier (1901-2). All letters have their original envelopes, except for /26-7, /29, /49-8, /51-2, /57, /60, /64, /66-7, /71, /77-8, /94, and /96.

Acquisition Information

This collection of 95 letters from Private Lewis Jarvis, Cape Mounted Rifles, to his mother, written between 1897 and 1905, was purchased by Cambridge University Library in December 1992.
