[Lease and] release indenture, Westminster, Middlesex

Whereas Sir John Tufton of Maidstone, Kent, by will dated 8 October 1685 bequeathed to Jacob, Lord Astley, and Edwin Wiat and their heirs all his lands in Westminster on trust to sell them for the payment of his debts, any profits afterwards arising to be divided between Cisley Guillams of Canterbury, sister to Sir John Tufton, and Margaret wife of James Jeffreys, DD, of Canterbury, daughter of Olympia Wray, sister to Sir John Tufton; Sir Robert Marsham by the consent of Jacob, Lord Astley, Edwin Wiat, Cisley Guillams, James Jeffreys and Margaret his wife release to Charles Rampayne the lands in Westminster being in his possession by Indenture of Lease dated the previous day, to him and his heirs for the use of him and his heirs for ever. Unexpired leases are to continue and Charles Rampayne to take the rents. Witnesses: for Lord Astley: Peter Goring, Charles Colman, Joseph Rampayne; for Edwin Wiat: Thomas Wiat, Charles Colman, John Allen; for Cisley Guillams, James Jeffreys and Margaret Jeffreys: John Yates, Robert Sanders, Charles Colman; for Sir Robert Marsham: R. Derbyshire, Charles, Thomas Plukenett, Joseph Rampayne. On the back is a receipt for the consideration money signed by Lord Astley, Edwin Wiat, Cisley Guillams, James Jeffreys and Margaret Jeffreys. Witnesses: the same respectively. Seven seals are attached.
