This collection includes 13 items relating to Lancashire, and 39 items relating to other counties. It includes some of the earliest documents held by Chetham's Library.

Acquisition Information

The immediate source of acquisition is unknown. It is not known how or why the collection was created. It is possible that the documents were originally part of the Mainprice Deposit at Chetham's Library. The Mainprice Deposit is a large collection of deeds and papers mainly concerning land and property in Lancashire and Cheshire. It was deposited in Chetham's Library by F. H. Mainprice of Taylor, Kirkman and Mainprice, solicitors, between October 1940 and [1946].
