Administrative / Biographical History

The Diocesan War Damage Committee was formed in March 1941 and operated for a short period of time until the passing of the Diocesan Reorganisation Committee Measure 1941, when the York Diocesan Conference, in accordance with the Measure, appointed the York Diocesan Reorganisation Committee. The committee was to consider and negotiate claims of war damage to church property throughout the diocese and was also responsible for the re-planning of church property as a result of war damage. A sub-committee was established for the Hull area in 1946. In 1969 all reorganisation affairs became the business of the Diocesan Pastoral Committee (see Borthwick reference GB 193 DO/PC).
