B&W photographic print. 'The girls waiting to take part in a ceremony, possibly the Thekrangi genna, which is marked by dancing and singing on the part of young, unmarried boys and girls and takes place over three days. They are holding banana leaf cups for rice beer and sit in a row in front of huge house planks carved with stylised human heads and mithuns. Wraped in dark or white shawls they wear hugh brass rings as ear ornaments and their hair is shaved as a sing of being unmarried.'
