Chaks of the Chittagong Hill Tracts

Scope and Content

B&W photographic print. 'The Chaks, (not to be confused with Chakmas) are a small tribe living in the south of the Chittagong Hill Tracts. This house has its sitting-out platform securely fenced around with woven bamboo slats. As in all houses built on stilts, the area under the house is where the pigs and chickens are penned at night.'
