The Regional Computer Centre was established at the University of Manchester in 1969, and provided computer services for a consortia of North West universities (including Salford, Liverpool, Keele, UMIST and Lancaster). It took over operational responsibilities for academic computing services previously undertaken by the Department of Computer Science.
