This material is largely made up of letters and correspondence concerning Hilliard's visit to Australia and New Zealand in 1959. His visit to Australia was arranged by the University of Sydney's Postgraduate Medical Foundation and his New Zealand visit was organised by their Ministry of Health department. Hilliard visited various cities across Australia in April/May 1959 before travelling to New Zealand in May. The bulk of the material concerns his itinerary for the visit. Hilliard gave numerous lectures on mental deficiency and attended a range of meetings and visits of medical facilities. There is some correspondence concerning the visit to England of the Australian Doctor, D.S. Fraser. The folder also contains interview and lecture transcripts, newspaper cuttings, book reviews, reprints and photographs from his visit. There is also a report titled 'The Mental Deficiency Services: An Analysis of Existing Policy and the Community's Requirements'.
