Scope and Content

Discusses how psychosomatic is a fairly new word in a doctor's vocabulary. Rodger says it means "paying attention to the psychological as well as the bodily or physical manifestations of disease". Covers a brief history of development of ideas and discoveries in medicine and the influence of Freud, as well as the increase in psychological diseases in soldiers who fought in and survived the First World War.
