Scope and Content

This photograph depicts a doorway and adjacent wall panel in the Grande Singerie boudoir of the Chateau de Chantilly. The decorative panels were created by Christophe Huet in the 1730s. The door panels in this photograph show monkeys doing human activities, namely using a map and drawing a picture. Text written on the back of this photograph in Lady Dilke's hand reads 'Chantilly. Detail du salon des singes'.
