Ten folders of correspondence re. Thermal Syndicate Ltd and fused quartz, mostly 1900-08, but also c.1960. In 1903 Hutton was employed as a consultant for Thermal Syndicate Ltd of Wallsend on Tyne. Hutton's expertise with electro-metallurgy paved the way for that company’s mass-production of fused silica items. Among the correspondents are J. Frank Bottomless and R.A.S. Padget. Hutton benefited financially from the Syndicate’s success, though he was later displeased that the firm's commemorative history, The Thermal Syndicate Ltd. 1906-1956 (copy in folder j) did not credit his contribution. Hutton set the record straight in his Recollections (pp.41-2).
