Images mostly taken by the survey team during Hugo Winckler's excavation of the Hittite capital of Hattusa, near the village of Boghaz Keui (Boghazköy now Boğazkale, Turkey). The survey team visited the site twice; firstly between 21-22nd May when they photographed the temple site and the excavations and again on the 27-29th May when they visited acropolis and photographed of details of architecture and site. This series also includes maps, plans and photographs which were possibly created by Hugo Winckler’s excavation or in later excavation reports.

Physical Characteristics and/or Technical Requirements
Many of the negatives in this series are very damaged and the emulsion is severely flaking. Based upon the numbers on the negatives there appear to be some negatives which are now missing. Empty records have been created in case the missing negatives are discovered at a later date. Also some images have been doctored to produce a better print.
John Garstang published a review of the initial excavation in Garstang (1908) 'Dr. Winckler's Discoveries of Hittite remains at Boghas-Keui', Liverpool Annals of Archaeology and Anthropology, Vol.1, pp41-47.
