Scope and Content

In 1966, Jodrell Bank succeeded in intercepting Luna 9's transmission of pictures of the moon's surface. Includes correspondence, the photographs and several newspaper headlines. One letter compares it to the Zimmerman Telegram. The incident caused some diplomatic disquiet. Also: letter from Anti-Communist League of America claiming it was a hoax. Correspondents: M. V.
