File containing the manuscript of Simon Lowy's poetry collection Melusine and the nigredo (Manchester: Carcanet New Press, 1979). The book was printed by Billings and the proof-reader was Margaret Hutchinson. The copy-editor was probably Peter Jones. The manuscript is in photocopied typescript form and consists of all the poems with no preliminaries other than part-titles; there is also an additional poem at the end called 'Oysters' which was subsequently cut from the collection. There are some minor annotations by Lowy in fine black ink and Schmidt has added further annotation, some typesetting directions and page divisions in black. The typesetting direction on the second sheet in red is probably by Jones.
