Scope and Content

Manuscript and proofs of PN Review 1 (1976), the first issue of the magazine in its new format. It contained: poems by C.H. Sisson, Donald Davie, Robert Wells, Peter Scupham, Dick Davis, Neil Powell, Daniel Huws, Andrew Waterman, Charles Boyle and Michael Vince; essays by C.H. Sisson, Octavio Paz (translated by Michael Schmidt), Donald Davie, Frank Field, Calvin Bedient, Blake Morrison, Neil Powell, Alan Munton, Clive Wilmer, David Wright and Paul Mills; book reviews by Blake Morrison, David Wright, Alan Young, Gareth Reeves, George Buchanan, Stan Smith, David Day, Eric Homberger and Stephen Utz; letters from Alan Munton and Simon Curtis; and an editorial by Michael Schmidt. The magazine was copy-edited by Val Warner.


This material was formerly erroneously identified as relating to Poetry Nation I, but has now been restored to its place in the magazine file sequence.
