Scope and Content

Manuscript of the anthology. This takes the form of original typescript biographical and textual introductions to each sermon, while the sermon texts have been photocopied from published sources. Val Warner has prepared the manuscript for printing, noting instructions in pencil, along with some comments of her own in pencil, and further notes in red ink. She has also corrected and clarified the sermon texts themselves in places. Seymour-Smith has corrected the editorial parts of the text, in black ink. Warner has added typescript preliminary sheets.

The manuscript was foliated throughout by Val Warner, but further inserts were subsequently added, and the page ordering was changed in places when the arrangement of footnotes and preface were altered. In addition, a bundle of 24 folios which included Greek text had been extracted and were later found in a file containing a manuscript for a Carcanet catalogue (now at CPA/1/1/4/1). This bundle was noted as being "for Peter" [probably Peter Jones who presumably checked the Greek text for accuracy]. These are now reconciled with the main manuscript but have not been reintegrated into the main sequence, and are placed at the end. The archivist has added running numbers in the top left-hand corner of each sheet.
