Scope and Content

Book file relating to Titus Lucretius Carus, The poem on nature (De rerum natura), translated from the Latin by C.H. Sisson (Manchester: Carcanet New Press, 1976), and printed by Eyre and Spottiswoode Ltd. The file contains only Sisson's manuscript of the book. This is in the form of a typescript, with revisions and corrections made by Sisson in blue ink. The typescript has been marked up with printing instructions by Val Warner, who has also added some comments and queries on the text in pencil. Indications of page breaks have been added in red ink, probably during in-house typesetting at Carcanet Press.

The first three sheets have no original page numbering, but the rest have been numbered throughout in the top right hand corner in a sequence running from 2 to 328.
