Typescript of the volume. Folios 3 and 5-26 are Donald Stanford's original typescripts. Folios 1, 2 and 4 are typed preliminary sheets supplied by Carcanet. Bridges' poems are in the form of photocopies; in a letter to Schmidt (at CPA/2/1/69/5) and in the note on the text, Stanford notes that the poems are xeroxed from the one-volume Oxford collected edition of 1953. The copy-editor has supplied instructions to the printer on layout and presentation, standardized the identification of untitled poems, and has also undertaken minor editing of Stanford's introduction to the volume, much of which is concerned with Anglicizing some of Stanford's American conventions. There is a second layer of pencilled printing instructions which was probably added by the copy-preparer at Mackay's printing house. The copy-editor has added foliation throughout.
Scope and Content
Additional running numbers have not been added, as the copy-editor's foliation runs throughout the manuscript. Folio 22 has an additional sheet bearing printer's instructions attached by a paper clip.
