Book file containing material relating to Elizabeth Jennings's poetry collection Growing-points (Cheadle: Carcanet New Press, 1975), printed by W. and J. Mackay. Schmidt selected the poems to be included from a manuscript collection submitted by Jennings's agent (the remaining poems which were not selected are in /1) and a large bundle of further manuscript and typescript poems submitted over time by Jennings herself and by her friend Dame Veronica Wedgwood who typed many of Jennings's poems for her (/2). The process of accumulation and selection is documented in Jennings's correspondence file at CPA/2/1/41.

Scope and Content
Arrangement
The poems which were not ultimately published in the collection have not been removed to the rejected manuscripts series: the latter series represents entire collections that were rejected, in a way which Jennings's were not. Schmidt simply selected those poems he thought would stand together to form a reasonably sized collection, and the rest were retained; some have subsequently appeared in Jennings's New collected poems (2002).
