Manuscript of the volume, with no preliminaries although part titles have been added by Robert Wells. It takes the form of typescripts, cuttings or extracts from publications, and photocopies of work from earlier printed sources. Wells has added some typesetting instructions, principally in pencil and black ink. Some of the published sources have been identified in another hand, probably that of Alan Young.

The original foliation has been retained and runs as follows: one sheet numbered 1a-1b; one sheet numbered 1c; sheets numbered 2-72; unnumbered insert; and sheets numbered 73-405.
