Page proofs of the book, consisting of acknowledgements, introduction and main text. These have the appearance of in-house production at Carcanet. Spaces have been left for illustrations to be incorporated at a later stage. They have been corrected throughout in a hand which is probably that of Margaret Hutchinson, who did some proof-reading and collating for Carcanet during this period. In these proofs, the convention of marking typesetting errors in red and other changes in blue appears to have been followed. Points about spelling and layout have been made in pencil. Stored with: a photocopy paste-up of the book jacket; and typescript title page, contents and illustration lists.
