Page proofs of Carlos Drummond de Andrade's The minus sign: a selection from the Poetic Anthology, translated from the Portuguese by Virginia de Araujo (Manchester: Carcanet New Press, 1981). It seems that Carcanet were the British publishers for this book, which was probably first published in America by Black Swan Books of Redding Ridge, Connecticut: these proofs were originally misfiled with the proof sheets of Adrian Stokes's With all the views (at CPA/1/2/2/32), which were supplied by Black Swan. The proofs are in the same format as the Stokes proofs, which differs from the usual style of Carcanet books. They are unmarked apart from minor indications of technical errors made in red ink. They consist of the dedication, acknowledgements and contents pages, a poem by Araujo called 'Carlos' (which was not included in the Carcanet edition), introduction, main text of the volume, and bibliography. The sheets were probably supplied to Carcanet for use in printing the British edition.

Arrangement
These proofs are not in their correct place in the alphabetical sequence because they had been misfiled with other proofs under the title page of Adrian Stokes's With all the views. The page numbering system of the proofs is as follows: 2 unnumbered preliminary pages; pages numbered v-xiii; and main sequence running 1-166.
