Book file relating to Elizabeth Jennings's poetry collection Consequently I rejoice (Manchester: Carcanet New Press, 1977). The book was copy-edited by Val Warner and printed by Unwin Brothers Ltd. The volume was put together by Schmidt from large quantities of holograph and typescript poems submitted by Jennings and her friend Veronica Wedgwood over a period of time. Some of the typescript poems were typed by Wedgwood and others Schmidt arranged to be typed for Jennings. In January 1977 Schmidt proposed a structure for the book, which was arranged thematically (outlined in a copy letter to Jennings at CPA/2/1/41/66). As with Growing-points the book file contains a large number of poems which were not selected for inclusion in the volume (at CPA/1/1/1/47/1).
