Scope and Content

Manuscript of the book from the introduction onwards. It takes the form of a ribbon typescript; Herrick's texts have all been cleanly typed out. There are a small number of handwritten corrections to these in black, presumably by Jesson-Dibley. Michael Schmidt has carried out some minor editing of Jesson-Dibley's introduction in blue ink; he has also added page divisions for typesetting purposes. Includes one additional page of text following the further reading list: a quote relating to Herrick from John Fowles. The manuscript was originally submitted in a folder, which is also included here. The original title page and contents list were kept with the collated proofs in /2.

The manuscript has its own original typescript numbering system, running: i-xi; one unnumbered sheet; followed by pp. 1-55.
