The Drainage Board was established under the Land Drainage Acts, 1861 and 1918 and the River Dee Drainage Order 1922, confirmed 26 May 1922. It constituted the River Dee Drainage District with power to levy rates for the maintenance of main water courses. Under the Land Drainage Act 1930 the Board was abolished in 1934 when the River Dee Internal Drainage Boards came into being.
