Scope and Content

Comprises autograph French manuscripts of Henry Card towards various of his poems, plays, and prose writings; also, many letters from or to him, dated between 1873 and 1921; together with various editorial notes concerning the manuscripts written in other, more recent, hands, partly in French and partly in English, and a copy of Andr Gill: Vingt portraits contemporains, Paris, s.d.

Administrative / Biographical History

Henry Card was born in Paris in 1851. He was a naturalistic writer and author of two novels: Une belle journe (1881) and Terrains vendre au bord de la mer (1906). He was one of the original members of the Acadmie Goncourt
