Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Gorsgoch Farm is situated in the parish of Llangiwg, near Crosshands. It was part of the Mackworth estate and passed to Capel Hanbury Leigh through his wife Molly Ann (d 1846) whose first husband had been Sir Robert Humphrey Mackworth (1764-1794). The later deeds are mainly concerned with the leasing of mineral rights after the discovery of coal seams beneath the Gorsgoch property.
