Correspondence relating both to the publication of the book 'Spellhorn', and to various attempts to adapt and produce a film version of the book. The first attempt at adaptation was undertaken in association with Ragdoll Productions and a freelance director, Doug Wilcox. The second attempt at adaptation was undertaken in association with Peter Minns of Wide-Eyed Productions. Although film scripts were produced in both cases, neither attempt led to the successful production of a film version of the book.
The file includes correspondence from Ragdoll Productions; BBC; Jane Nissen, Doherty's editor at Hamish Hamilton; the National Library for the Blind; Doug Wilcox; Collins Children's Division; Sheffield City Council Department of Employment and Economic Development; Peter Minns of Wide-Eyed Productions; David Higham Associates, Doherty's literary agents; Puffin; a small amount of correspondence from fans and school children; and copies of several of Doherty's out-going letters.
